Skip’s Computer Stuff
It appears that my article in the Bugle last month, created some confusion among some people, so I’ll start by clearing up those issues. First, some were questioning whether I was part of the OBV Communications Committee? Up until a few days after the article was published, I didn’t even know that OBV even had a communications committee. So the answer is NO. I did inform Herb Johnson and Jim Lattmann of my activities on behalf of OBV residents. Secondly, I was apparently not clear about the Comcast / Embarq issue. My focus was mainly the reliability of Broadband (high speed) Internet service in OBV. As a computer tech here in OBV, I was also aware of Comcast TV issues from my clients and incorporated my research with TV as a secondary issue. Comcast and Embarq executives have failed to respond to us in any meaningful way. Quality of service is probably going to stay as it is for some time and at this time, Embarq remains the most reliable Internet service, but with flaws.
Last week I became aware of a technology innovation that MAY give us the opportunity to have LOW COST, DEPENDABLE HIGH SPEED WIRELESS (WiFi) Internet throughout the park. I have given that info to the Communications Committee and I will be following up to see if the preliminary info is accurate from the manufacturer.
Have a Merry Christmas and Happy Holiday
